Who this treatment is for
Waxing works for almost everyone but suits clients who want longer-lasting smoothness than shaving (typically 3-5 weeks between sessions) and who can tolerate the brief discomfort of hair removal at the root.
- Clients tired of daily shaving and the constant regrowth, stubble and razor irritation.
- Pre-holiday smoothness lasting through a 7-14 day trip without packing razors.
- Pre-event preparation 24-48 hours before a wedding, photoshoot or major occasion.
- Ingrown-hair-prone skin — proper waxing (versus poor shaving) significantly reduces ingrowns when paired with exfoliation.
- Sensitive skin that reacts to depilatory creams — hot wax is gentler than chemical removal.
- Anyone curious about hair-removal options before committing to laser — waxing is the right intermediate step.
Why we recommend the Body Waxing
We recommend the Body Waxing because it is professional waxing delivered with the right wax for the area, considered technique, and proper aftercare guidance. The difference between a good wax and a bad one is technique — wax temperature, direction of application, speed of removal, and skill at reading the skin in front of you. Our therapists wax 30-50 clients a week between them; the muscle memory shows.
We use professional strip and hot wax systems, single-use applicators. Strip wax for speed on larger areas; hot wax that shrinks around individual hairs for sensitive zones. We change couch roll and gloves between every client and we never re-dip a used spatula. These are basic standards that surprisingly many providers cut corners on.
How the Body Waxing works
Waxing removes hair from the follicle root rather than cutting it at the surface like shaving. This produces longer-lasting smoothness because the next hair must grow back from the bottom of the follicle, taking 3-5 weeks.
Over time, repeatedly pulling hair from the follicle weakens it. Hair grows back finer, patchier and slower. smooth skin for 3-5 weeks with reduced hair density and refinement over time. Hair is not eliminated permanently the way laser eliminates it, but the difference after a year of consistent waxing is significant.
The treatment protocol
A Body Waxing session is straightforward:
- Skin prep — we cleanse the area and apply pre-wax oil to protect the skin barrier.
- Wax temperature check — applied to the therapist's wrist first, then a small test patch on you.
- Application — in the direction of hair growth, at the right temperature for that area.
- Removal — strip wax pulled against hair growth, hot wax shrinks around the hair and is lifted off as a complete piece.
- Tweeze and tidy — any strays removed with sterile tweezers for a clean finish.
- Soothe — post-wax lotion with calming actives to settle the skin and close the pores.
- Aftercare brief — quick verbal reminder of the do's and don'ts for the next 24-48 hours.
In the room: what you'll experience
The treatment is brief. Discomfort is sharp but momentary — most clients find it more manageable than expected, especially on their second visit when the hair is finer. The skin will be pink for an hour or two and may feel warm.
Tiny red bumps (folliculitis) sometimes appear for 24 hours and resolve on their own. Genuine irritation lasting longer than a day is rare and usually indicates the skin needs more pre-wax preparation next time — we will adjust at your next appointment.
Results timeline
Results from the Body Waxing appear like this:
- Immediately — smooth skin, slight pink flush that fades within an hour or two.
- Day 1-2 — skin settled, smooth, slightly more sensitive than usual.
- Week 2-3 — first regrowth appears as fine, soft hair — much softer than razor stubble.
- Week 4-5 — time to rebook. Hair is long enough to wax again (around 5mm).
- After 6-12 months of consistent waxing — visibly finer, patchier, slower hair growth. Many areas need re-booking every 5-6 weeks instead of every 3-4.
Aftercare
Six rules for the 48 hours after the Body Waxing:
- No hot baths, showers, saunas, steam rooms or swimming for 24 hours — heat opens the pores and can cause irritation.
- No tight or synthetic clothing on the area for 24 hours — opt for loose cotton.
- No exfoliation or harsh skincare on the area for 48 hours.
- From day 2-3, gentle daily exfoliation with a soft scrub or mitt prevents ingrown hairs.
- Moisturise daily — well-hydrated skin re-grows healthier.
- Avoid sun, sunbeds and self-tan on the area for 24 hours.
Safety, contraindications and patch testing
We will not wax over broken or irritated skin, sunburn, recent peels or laser treatments (within 7 days), active eczema or psoriasis flares, or for clients on isotretinoin (Roaccutane within 6 months). Pregnancy is fine but skin is more sensitive — let your therapist know. We will always check the area before applying wax.
No patch test is needed for this treatment.
